Magic of flowers

I went to the markets with my friend and have always wanted to buy myself these bright coloured flowers of sunshine for myself. So we did, we both bought a bunch each.

They lasted about 3-4 weeks and brought so much brightness and joy into my kitchen.

Also, by the time they wilted away, they left hundreds of beautiful wish flowers, which my children and I took outdoors and blew into the wind, letting our wishes fly through to the sky.

Talk about magic.

Remember your friends

Image via: CNN.com

I have friends and a lot of them are not friends that know each other, which makes it hard to see them all singularly because of the limits on time.

Recently, I have been thinking about my friends and have sent them private message's on Facebook. Instead of the usual, how are you? I'm good, how are you? Conversations that generally end there because we are both swept away in life, I decided to open up and share with one of my friend's an update in my life to what's been happening. The result, a decent conversation with shared picture's and chat that we would have if we were standing in front of each other.

Make time for your friends. Show them you care and want to hear what's happening in their life by sharing what is happening in your life.

It will make all the difference in rebuilding your connection.

When strangers say something to bring a smile to your face

Image via: Whisper

I went shopping in my lunch break and entered a store to look for some gym clothing. As I walked in the male shopping sales clerk smiled as he was laying out more clothes. I smiled back.

I kept walking and I stopped to look at some gym tops. He said to me, "You are the most happiest girl, I have seen here all day."

This blew me away. A simple statement from a stranger that made me smile even more.

I always try to compliment people, random people as well. I think it's important and special. It feels so good, when somebody that you have never met before says something nice to you. Return the favour.

Has a stranger ever said something nice to you before? Comment below. I would love to hear what they said!

I asked the universe to receive a flower a day and guess what happened

I used to ask the universe on a regular basis to receive a flower every day. A few years later, I had children and after a year of my son daily finding me a flower, I realised what I had asked for many years prior had come to pass.

Why did I ask for one flower?

At the time I thought it was a pretty big request, because who gets a free flower every day? Well I surely didn't, until now.

Think about something you would want and then just ask for it daily. Never believe you won't get it and don't put a time on when you will receive.

Write it down as well and one day you will receive it. Come back here and tell me all about it.

Note: I had never asked my child to give me one, he just always did and he would find beautiful ones, different ones every day. I even felt bad at one point for him picking flowers but then I saw a council worker cutting off all the flowers so I didn't feel bad after that! As they were just going to be cut off anyway and left on the ground. Now my youngest also looks to find me flowers.

Look up

Normally travelling via train to work, I have numerous things I can work on, such as writing chapters in novels, editing other writings that are in the works, reading or simply buffing my nails (you should try it, it is very relaxing!).

The other day, I looked up from my writing. As writer's do, we take a moment to imagine while the story builds in the mind and I looked out onto my favourite paddock. Filled with cows, grass lands and blue skies. This day though, the first time ever on my daily eight year journey on the train, I saw a family of geese, with little babies and they were walking proudly along the meadow. Simply adorable!

Then a bit further, a circle of tall sunflowers in someone's back yard. My favourite flower.

Sometime's we just need to look up and be present.

A shared moment of happiness with a stranger

It is always in those dark moments, when you find your mind wandering into dark territory. I went on an angry walk and I was finding it hard to pull myself out of it. An angry walk is when you go for a walk to let off steam and this was how I was feeling, which is unusual for me, because generally I am pretty cruisey.

I spent my entire walk, going over and over what I would say, the points I would make to argue my point and so forth. It wasn't until I was heading back, still annoyed, when I had a sweet life moment.

I saw a bride and groom walking through the Botanic Gardens, with a couple of family members and friends to help celebrate their day. The bride looked absolutely stunning in her white dress with diamante beading all down her gown. She looked at me and I looked at her. I smiled, she smiled brighter. I mimed the words "beautiful" and walk passed the bridal party with the biggest smile on my face.

It was as if I had been given something to pull me out of my angry state and allow me to just be in a sweet life moment. I took the opportunity and felt the sparkle of their day.
